How it works
Aruch HaShulchan AI answers your questions using only the words of the Aruch HaShulchan of Rabbi Yechiel Michel Epstein — nothing else. The sefer is a comprehensive work of halacha spanning all four sections of the Shulchan Aruch: Orach Chaim, Yoreh De’ah, Even HaEzer, and Choshen Mishpat. Ask in plain English or Hebrew; the app finds the relevant passages and replies with a short answer that points to the exact place in the sefer.
Grounded in one sefer, one voice
Unlike general “AI rabbi” tools that blend many sources — and can drift into rulings no single work actually says — Aruch HaShulchan AI stays inside a single authoritative work. The mechaber, Rabbi Yechiel Michel Epstein, is the only voice here. It never brings other poskim and never synthesizes across a machlokes.
When the Aruch HaShulchan is silent, it says so
If the sefer does not address your question, Aruch HaShulchan AI tells you plainly instead of guessing. That honest silence is the point: a study tool you can trust not to invent a halacha is worth more than one that always has something to say.
Every answer shows its sources
Each response cites the specific siman and se’if it drew from, and you can open the full Hebrew text in the reader to check it yourself. The retrieved passages are shown with a match-strength label so you can see how directly they bear on your question.
Search in English or Hebrew; read in Hebrew
Search is bilingual — you can ask in either language and the app finds the right passages regardless. The reader presents the sefer in its original Hebrew. An English translation is not yet available; this first version is Hebrew-only.
A study aid, not a posek
Aruch HaShulchan AI is a reference and study aid. It is not a posek, does not issue psak, and must not be relied upon for practical halacha — and an AI can still misread or misstate the text. About the text & missing sections
The Hebrew is the public-domain printed edition of the Aruch HaShulchan, obtained via Sefaria. The app is free and needs no account.
A few portions of the work are not included, because they are not part of that public-domain edition:
- Yoreh De’ah 123–182 (Hilchos Avodah Zarah) — the manuscript was lost.
- Yoreh De’ah 202–239 (Nedarim and Shevuos) — recovered and printed only in 1992, and so not in the public-domain text.
- Yoreh De’ah 331–332 (Maaseros) — the author treated these in his companion work, the Aruch HaShulchan He’Atid.
- Even HaEzer 66–118 (Kesubos).
